Inspired by the beauty of the farm animals during my time spent at my sister’s farm in West Sussex, I rediscovered my passion for drawing with charcoal and began to sketch the Sussex Cattle, Texel Mule Sheep, Gloucester Old Spot, Large White Pigs and other breeds of animals that are home to Roundhurst Farm.

I love to study animals, making lots of notes and sketches as I go and then return to the sanctuary of my studio and easel to create large, bold drawings, pushing and rubbing the dark, brittle charcoal against the grain of the cartridge paper.

My passion continues to grow and is taking me all over the land from the Scottish Highlands to the Devonshire coastline and many counties along the way, searching for and drawing a variety of animals as I go.

Some of my charcoal drawings are currently decorating boutique hotels, private homes and can be viewed on line at ‘The Barn’ at Roundhurst (www.thebarnatroundhurst.com).

As well as illustrating for children’s books I have been busy launching my debut collection of charcoal animal drawings ‘Against the Grain’. After spending time at my sister’s farm in West Sussex, I rediscovered my passion for drawing with charcoal and began to create large, bold portraits of the animals there. The collection continues to grow…I have signed prints available to purchase…ideal gifts!
