‘The Ballet Class’ - Press Reviews
Tilly loves going to ballet class so much that her mum calls her Tilly
Tutu. Tilly looks forward to
being a cat in her show and practises every
week. The gently-coloured Shirley Hughes inspired pencil and watercolour
illustrations are a delight. A charming book, perfect for any young ballerina.
Bookfest 2004-2005
Tilly loves ballet and is very busy practising before the big show that
her dance class of six little girls and one little boy is putting on,
and she takes part in a final rehearsal- the opportunity to show warm-up
exercises, the ballet positions and basic steps.
When the day comes, with her cat costume and her face paints, she is
a perfect ‘tiptoe-on-my-paws, and fierce show-all-my-claws’ cat.
A perfect picture book for budding ballerinas.
The text is engaging, and the illustrations catch children’s natural
exuberance of movement and energy, as well as the atmosphere of the show
with proud parents and restless siblings.
